Nebulizer convert the liquid samples into a fine aerosol having particle size between 5 to 10 microns. This spray as it enters the flame or plasma undergoes de-salvation and decomposition so that the formation of atomic species in gaseous form is assisted.

 

The atom cloud that is formed intern absorbs radiation resulting in atomic absorption spectra. In case of plasma the excitation process takes place and emission spectra results.
